Welcome to Feetfirst Recumbent.

This is a site about recumbent Bikes or (bents) for short.
Those strange shaped bicycles You just have to look at as they go by.
For most of us after you see one you´ve just got to have one or in my case build one.
On my site I have put together some information about the Recumbent bike which I hope will get more people to use these wonderful Machines.

The Feetfirst.The Feetfirst.The Feetfirst.

The main reason I decided to do a Web-site was to promote the recumbent bicycle and to show the benefits it has to offer.
I have gave the site a new look for 2008 with more content on the History page plus I have also added some new Links in my Links page including, pedaling.com which gives you some great cycle routes in the USA and CANADA.

Recumbent Benifits

The Recumbent is good in many ways once you´ve mastered it. Its excellent for long journeys as it is more comfortable than a Normal bike because of it unique riding position, you don´t get Sore wrist´s or strains on your back and of course saddle sore.
It is also easy to ride in windy conditions, as it is more aerodynamic because you are laid flat unlike the normal bike in an upright position.
If you want to make it more aerodynamic you have the option of adding a fairing or a full body shell.
There are many to chose from all sorts of different varieties long short Low two three and four wheeled the choice is endless and if you can´t find the one you want or can´t afford it make your own like I did.

Environmentally the Recumbent bicycle is excellent

  1. The Recumbent does not use fuel (apart from calories).
  2. The Bicycle does not create greenhouse gasses.
  3. A bent does not make noise pollution.
  4. And when the Recumbent is old and passed its sell by date nearly every bit of it can be recycled.
